If you only do three things
Start here
Walk the beach at low tide
Check the tide table, go out when it is low, and look in the tide pools. It costs nothing and it is the thing visitors remember.
Coffee, then Ward Lake
Grab a drink from The Green Coffee Bean Company and walk the loop around Ward Lake. Easy, flat, and beautiful in any weather.
Go fishing
It is why a lot of people come here. Charter or shore, it is worth building a day around.
Where to eat
Local, and worth it
Coffee
The Green Coffee Bean Co.
Locally roasted. The owner, Steve, is a logger turned roaster — which tells you most of what you need to know about Ketchikan.
Burgers
AJ’s Gourmet Burgers
Locally owned and operated by a local family since 1991.
Dining
Cape Fox restaurants
Three Alaska Native–owned establishments: the Eagles Nest, Heen Kahidi, and 108 Tap House.
